Some thoughts on spring

Without the terribly cold, snowy, and windy Minnesota winters spring really is the greatest time of the year. It is the time when we can finally go back outside and enjoy the fresh air. Everything is better in the spring, it even smells better outside. After school everyone is free to spend the afternoon doing outside activities like golfing, grilling, and playing yard games. You know when its spring because the ground is soft and mushy, the roads are full of sand left from the melting snow, and the sun finally shines like it hasn't in what seems like an eternity. With spring also comes March Madness and the start of the baseball season. Every year I am pumped to watch the Twins begin their domination of the MLB, and it seems that every year they fall short of greatness.

my opinion

A time when my opinion really mattered is when a friend of mine was doing some bad things. My friends and I told him that we didn't like to see him like this and that we wanted him to get some help. After enough urging from us he finally got himself help and is now a better person.

I disagree with the teacher, she should have her facts straight before she teaches the class. The student should have a more respectful way of telling her she is wrong, but he was still correct. If I was his parents and the teacher gave him detention for that I would have a big problem with that. The teacher should admit she is wrong and apologize to the student and his parents. If she does not apologize the parents will surely think their son is lying to them and make a bigger deal about it than it really is.

Movie that changed my perspective

In the movie blood diamond people are being killed in Africa so that rich people can have their diamonds. After watching the movie it really changed my thoughts on the diamond industry, i do not think that we should be buying diamonds until the blood diamond conflict is taken care of. The movie also shows that the diamonds are really not that rare, but the big diamond players control the price by keeping the diamonds off the market so the supply is low and the demand is high.

When I was in seventh grade my english teacher made my class read the outsiders. Since I read that my life has never been the same. After reading the book I wanted to be a "greaser" and be a badass like ponyboy and johny. Living my life by this code has gotten me into trouble many times but i have also learned many valuable lessons.

Biggest Pet Peeve

You no when your sitting next to someone at lunch time, and all you can hear is the loud smacking when they chew. This is probably my biggest pet peeve; it drives me nuts. I would do just about anything to not have to hear this noise. If I know the person well I might ask them to chew a little more quiet, and if i don't know them I would just eat around them ever again.

What I expect from class

This semmester I hope this course is fun and challenging. I hope to take the most from it so I can better my writing. I expect to expand on what techniques of writing I already know, and hope to learn new ones that will benefit me. I hope the instructor tries his best to explain anything that is unclear. So far I am a little surprised about the amount of reading that we have done, I hope this doesn't continue through the semmester because it is hard to find time to squeeze it into my already busy day.
